Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, January 9 said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in a “tearing hurry” to sack Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Alok Verma due to Rafale even after the Supreme Court reinstated him.

The Congress leader suggested that Modi does not want Verma to initiate an inquiry into the Ralafe deal. It is noteworthy that the CBI chief was sacked in October 2018 by the Modi government in a midnight decision without even consulting the selection committee — comprising of the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice and the leader of the Opposition or that of the largest opposition party, in this case was MP Mallikarjun Kharge — that had appointed him.

The Opposition alleged that government hurriedly benched him after he showed the willingness to probe the Rafale deal.
In his tweet, Gandhi wrote:
1. Why is the PM in such a tearing hurry to sack the CBI Chief?

2. Why will he not allow the CBI Chief to present his case in front of the selection committee ?

Answer: RAFALE
