‘Bhakts confused’ after Pakistani PM Imran Khan bats for Narendra Modi in this year’s Lok Sabha polls

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Narendra Modi’s return as India’s prime minister will be good news for Indo-Pak bilateral relations. Khan, according to news agency Reuters, said that if the Congress formed the next government, the party will be too scared to seek a settlement with Pakistan over the contentious issue of Kashmir.

Speaking to a group of foreign journalists, the Pakistani PM said, “Perhaps if the BJP – a right-wing party – wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached.”

Khan, who became the country’s prime minister in August last year, said that Muslims in Kashmir and across India were facing growing alienation under Narendra Modi, who he said was electioneering based on ‘fear and nationalist feeling’ just like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Khan also expressed his anguish over how ‘Muslim-ness’ was being attacked in India.

Taking a dig at the BJP after Khan supported Modi’s re-election, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Bhakts scratching their heads & at wit ends wondering if they should praise Imran Khan or not.”

Another former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked, “Just imagine what all the “Chowkidar” handles would be doing to @RahulGandhi & the Congress right now if Imran Khan had endorsed RG as PM in these elections? Who is the “tukde tukde” gang now?”
